The purpose of this blog is to provide a centralized location for the latest radio contests to make it easier to participate and win. To help us keep this blog current (which will certainly take a lot of work), please email us tips about other radio contests that you are aware of to UTRadioContests@gmail.com.  In the likely event that this blog does get neglected, you can still find useful links to station webpages on the Current Contests page as well as always applicable Helpful Tips for winning.

Home: This will have information about some of the newer contests as well as other posts about our winnings, etc. Feel free to join in the conversation by commenting on any of the posts.

Current Contests: This page contains a list of all the radio stations with descriptions of their current phone contests and links to their online contests. It also contains links to the stations' websites for convenience.

Helpful Tips: This page has a list of tips that can help improve your chances of winning a radio contest. We will update the page from time to time with new tips as we discover them.

Contest Rules: This page will provide useful information about how long you have to wait before winning another prize from a specific radio station. This page will be under construction for a while, so be patient with us (or email us specific questions you might have in the meantime).

About: This will be the generic "about this site" page for those of you who are curious about why we started this page or are just really bored and have nothing better to do.

*As a note, this blog is focused on Utah radio stations available in Salt Lake City. The station frequencies may differ or be unavailable in other parts of Utah.

Update on the Latest Prize Winnings

Good news (at least for me)! Both 103.5 and 107.9 allowed me to pick up the prizes that I won recently even though the waiting period had not ended (see my previous post here). My guess is that most stations don't even check to see when the last time someone won was (and I'm guessing other stations just don't care). Looks like the waiting period may just be a formality. Time to press my luck a bit and see if I ever get turned down.

P.S. The opera turned out to just be musical theater and it was fantastic. The dinner, on the other hand, was just a $10 gift certificate. Oh well, can't argue with free.

Three in One Day

I already posted about the Q92 morning trivia contest that I won yesterday (Ronald Reagan apparently instituted national ice cream month or something). Well, that was only the beginning of my lucky day. A few days a week, we generally try to win 5 for the Drive on The Arrow 103.5. It is a very consistent contest and it is easy enough to keep track of the 5 songs (meaning it is easy to look them up online on the playlist). Well, yesterday, I finally got through as Caller 5! After I won (yes, I had no idea what I was even playing for), I found out that I won Neil Diamond concert tickets. I couldn't care less about Neil Diamond, but my mother-in-law is a huge fan and these will make great birthday presents (plus they sell for about $100 each online). The concert is on 7/28/12 and it sounds like 103.5 is just starting to give the tickets away, so if you are interested, be sure to check out the contest on our Current Contests page.

Anyway, that wasn't the end of my good luck (as the title suggests). We were incidentally listening to Mix 107.9 in the car when they started their nightly Utah's Most Wanted. My brother dutifully memorized the songs and called when the 5th song ended. We only had one phone available, but still got through three times (another unpopular contest?) and won Mix-A-Palooza tickets. The tickets only retail for about $20 each, but should be fun for whoever ends up going.

Now the only problem is whether or not I will be able to claim either of these prizes. Technically, my waiting period hasn't ended from last time I won from each of the stations (or their sister stations). I tried to pick up the tickets today, but neither of their stations had the batches of tickets yet. I'll be sure to make another post about the outcome. I guess either way, we will at least learn how strictly the waiting period requirements are enforced.

Dinner and a Show

As I was reviewing some of the links on our Current Contests page a few weeks ago, I decided to enter a random online contest for Classical 89. I eventually plan on entering more online contests (even though you can't really do much to improve your chance of winning each one), but at the time I just entered to win some opera tickets. Well, I got an email the other day saying that I won! I checked out the opera's website and they are pretty pricey tickets too (by my standards). I guess the station and contest were obscure enough or they gave out a bunch of tickets because I'm still surprised I won. The only downside is that the show is in Logan (about a 90 min. drive for me).

However, just yesterday, I tried out the morning trivia contest on Q92 (Cache Valley based) and won a gift card to a restaurant in Logan. So, now if we do decide to go, we'll have dinner and a show provided for. And the best part is that they are from separate contests. Now I just have to figure out if I'm willing to sit through an opera...

Caller 10 Strikes Again

Ever since our big weekend winnings, we have had to cut back on certain contests to make sure that the same person didn't win twice within the allowed time period. This meant that we could only seriously call 97.9 in the morning at 8:20. Well after about a week of trying, we did it again. $100! We only got through once, but it was when it counted. Not a bad way to start a morning, huh?

The only bad news is that we used up all of our eligible people for the 97.9 contest. Looks like it's time to find more helpers.

Another Day...More Arts Festival Tickets

So, I got a new phone for Father's Day and finally made the jump to a smart phone. I quickly learned about and installed an auto-redial app that sounded perfect for helping with radio contests. Eager to try this out, we found the soonest radio contest and put the app to work. It worked like a charm! I got through as caller number 10 on FM 100.3 and won some more Utah Arts Festival tickets. I was tempted to hang up when I got through so I could save my monthly win for a better prize, but oh well.

Moral of the story: if you have a smart phone, I highly recommend picking up an auto-redial app. Good luck!

Weekend Winnings!

This past Saturday, we won $100 from Now 97.9's Workday Bonus Cash contest and then less than 10 minutes later called in to FM 100.3 and won tickets to this week's Utah Arts Festival.

I wish I could say that the $100 was a first attempt, but it took a little over a week to work that one out.  The Utah Arts Festival tickets only took 2 days of trying.  It looks like 3 people, 5 phones, and a Saturday were the perfect storm to make it all happen.

Has anyone else had any luck with contests lately?
